Regional F15 gets the 2010 season off to a competitive start.
With the restructuring of the league format it was suggested that the usual T/20 competition should be moved to be played at the same time as the league which meant doing away with the 40/40 cup knockout. This left a gap at the beginning of the season where the T/20 would have been so it was suggested that we have a Regional Championship to encourage a bit of club interaction before the serious stuff gets going in the summer. How does it work I hear you say? Well it's quite simple, 4 teams have been formed from four different regions and they will play each other once with the top 2 playing off in the final to decide which region has the strongest representation on the island.
The Regions are The North, The South, The Midlands and the Rest of the World. The opening fixtures will take place on the 28th February with the Midlands v the North and the South v the ROW. The directorate is collecting the information needed to ascertain who is available for which region. The region which a player is able to represent is determined by his place of birth on his passport. As soon as all the info is in captains will be appointed and players informed. The full fixtures are:-
28-Feb Midlands v North
28-Feb South v Rest of World
07-Mar North v South
07-Mar Rest of World v Midlands
14-Mar Midlands v South
14-Mar Rest of World v North
The venues for the fixtures have yet to be arranged so keep an eye on the website for any updates.
